Other People's Plots

I paid a quick visit to the allotment on Sunday afternoon. It was a lovely day,more like Spring than Autumn, temperatures were actually hitting 14% in some areas. Almost tropical!I just did some tidying up around but had a quick look around some of the other plots
Everything looking orderly and shipshape here, plants tidied up for the winter or mulched for the Spring.
Its amazing the amount of plants still growing or starting growth for next year.Last year the allotment was deserted come October, here we are this year and everybody is getting a head start for the next growing season.I read somewhere the motto 'gardening is what shows you believe in tomorrow'
Another well ordered plot. I think this winter we have all got in our winter sown onions and garlic thanks to Mike's advice earlier in the year.That is the great benefit of growing on the allotments, lots of well tried advice is passed on.

It all looks wonderful! Thank you so much Peggy for your comment on my My World post. I literally wrote the three vignettes during commercials for Dancing With the Stars! I wanted to get the post done before bedtime and had to hurry! :-) You're right--I could turn these into short stories...I am sure there are plenty of definitely real stories just as dramatic that are like these, though, and quite true. But I am glad you liked them! Hope you do decide to join My World--it's great fun!

It looks GORGEOUS!!!!!
I'm back on track at last and the endless cold and heavy drizzle has scuppered my allotment plan for today so I'm catching up with reading my favourite gardening blogs. I love your new layout too.
Great to check in and catch up with you Peggy. Have a hot lemon and ginger and kick off that cold!

Solo Travelling in Iceland

The Northern Lights/ Aurora Boreallis were on my bucket list for a while and I decided this was my year to tick them off, especially since Icelander Icelandair are offering very good rates to fly from Dublin to Reykjavik.  The photos are uploaded in no particular order, it was cold so layers of clothes and waterproof walking boots were in order! Faux Stone Trough

The word faux is a really nice word,somehow it does not seem to mean false, just a kind of copy! I had read about making these stone looking troughs or flower pots and again it was on my list of things to try.With my supply of donated flower pots I decided this was as good a time as any.The first pic is of the completed trough or tub filled with compost waiting on plants. I began with a plain white plastic tub, it does not have to be white it can be any colour.Glue ,I used PVA which was painted on thickly and left to get tacky and either sand or I used a mix of small stones and sand, sold in the builders suppliers as 'filling'. It is not a quick job to do as each side is pasted, shake on the sand thickly and press down to dry, I also did the opposite inside edge. I left it overnight each time but if it was sunny and warm it would probably dry faster.The first side drying, when it is dry shake off the excess leaving a thin covering. Instacrafting/ crafters and DIY

I set up an Instagram account a few  years ago and promptly forgot about it until some months ago and began browsing and got hooked enough to start posting, mainly about gardening.  I noticed some DIY crafting posts and began following them as I had always knit/sewed/made and done etc as many of my generation did because we had to , to look after a family and make ends meet. It was immediately very clear this new generation of crafters enjoyed the creativity and colour in each DIY project they did My monks bench was vintage white with a pale grey stencil, after looking at the colour and style of Joanne Mooney whose blog and instagram  account A PROUD HOME has won followers and awards I stepped outside my comfort zone and went for Petrol in Colortrend paint and some mad colours in cushions  of the plain greys I had originally intended!                                    ...
